Hunterworks 2011-2020 Can Am Commander/Max 800 Belt

The Commander 800 is a work-and-trail machine, and its CVT spends most of its life in exactly the condition belts hate: moderate load, low ground speed, not enough air moving through the clutch housing. This is the Hunterworks USA-made replacement belt, built with stronger cord and a higher-heat compound than the belt that came in the machine.

Fitment

2011-2020 Can-Am Commander 800 and Commander MAX 800. Hunterworks part number HW 521KM.

Note that the 2021-2025 Commander 1000 does not use this belt — that generation takes the HW CAX3M. If your Commander is 2021 or newer, order that one instead, or call us and we will confirm it against your VIN year.

Install notes

Before the new belt goes in, clean the belt dust out of both sheaves and check the CVT intake and exhaust ducting — on the Commander this ducting is a common failure point and a cracked duct will quietly shorten the life of every belt you put in after it. The Can-Am secondary belt change tool makes the swap a hand-tool job.

Break the new belt in for the first 25 miles or so: no full-throttle pulls, no towing, vary the speed so it seats evenly.
