Hunterworks 2017-2025 Can Am Maverick X3 Turbo Belt

The Can-Am Maverick X3 makes serious power in stock form and a great deal more than that once people start touching it, and the CVT belt is where all of it has to pass through. X3 owners tend to learn belt maintenance the hard way. This is the Hunterworks USA-made replacement belt — slightly wider and thicker than stock to add grip and take the edge off a jerky launch, built with stronger cord and a compound that handles more heat.

OEM cross-reference

Replaces Can-Am OEM part number 422280652, which supersedes the earlier 422280651 and 417300383. Hunterworks part number HW CAX3M.

Installation notes

• Set belt deflection to spec. More X3 belt problems trace back to deflection than to the belt itself — too tight and it runs hot, too loose and it slips and glazes.
• Clean the sheaves thoroughly and check for glazing before the new belt goes in.
• Check the CVT intake on top of the machine for water, mud and debris. X3 clutches drown easily in deep water.
• Break the belt in gently for the first 25-30 miles instead of launching it cold.
• The Can-Am belt change tool makes a trailside swap a ten-minute job. Carry one with a spare belt.
