Hunterworks 2018-2023 Can Am Maverick X3 900 Belt

The Maverick X3 900 is the lightest X3 in the family, and owners tend to assume that means it is easier on belts. It is not. The 900 makes riders carry more RPM to get the same result, and sustained high RPM at low ground speed is exactly the condition that cooks a CVT belt. This is the Hunterworks USA-made replacement, built with stronger cord and a higher-heat compound than the belt Can-Am ships.

Install notes

You do not have to pull the primary to change an X3 belt. The Hunterworks Can-Am belt change tool threads into the secondary and spreads the sheaves so the belt lifts straight out — a ten-minute job instead of a shop visit. While the cover is off, blow the belt dust out of the housing and check that the CVT intake and exhaust ducting is sealed, because on an X3 nearly every repeat belt failure traces back to airflow rather than to the belt.

Run a new belt gently for the first 25 miles or so. No full-throttle pulls, no towing, vary the speed. A belt that is broken in properly seats evenly in the sheaves and lasts noticeably longer.
