Hunterworks 2016-2025 Can Am Defender Belt (All Models/Sizes)

The Can-Am Defender is a work side-by-side, and work is what wears a CVT belt out. Towing, plowing, crawling a fence line at walking pace, hauling a loaded bed uphill — all of it happens at low ground speed, which means low belt speed, poor airflow through the clutch, and heat with nowhere to go. This is the Hunterworks USA-made replacement belt, made slightly wider and thicker than stock to add grip, smooth out a jerky start and add reliability under sustained load.

Installation notes

• Set belt deflection to spec once the new belt is in. Too tight runs hot, too loose slips and glazes.
• Clean the belt dust out of both sheaves and check the faces for glazing — a glazed sheave will polish a new belt smooth in short order.
• Check the CVT intake and exhaust ducting for mud, water and cracks. On a Defender it fills up faster than you would think.
• Use low range when you are pulling, plowing or crawling. Lugging it in high is the fastest way to destroy a belt on this machine.
• A Can-Am belt change tool lets you swap a belt in the field without pulling the primary — worth carrying with a spare.
